Tips for Home Quarantine and Observation forPrevention of NovelCoronavirus-Infected Pneumonia
I. Arrangement of Dwelling Spaces. It is better to live apart with your family membersif you have more than one residence, otherwise please stay alone in your roomand keep the door closed. Do not share the bathroom unless it is necessary. Theshared bathroom has to be well disinfected and kept ventilated.
II. Ventilation of Dwelling Spaces. Open the windows at least twice aday, 30 minutes each time. Keep windows narrowly open at night when you sleep.
III.Exclusive Articles of Daily Use. Articles of daily use must be exclusive forthe right person and the right purpose, washed and disinfected separately.
IV. Eachfamily member has to sleep in a separate bedroom and dine with separate dishes.The used tableware must be thoroughly disinfected.
V. PersonalHygiene. Frequently wash your hands and face. If you have to meet your familymembers, put on a mask, keep 1.5 meters to 2 meters away from each other andalways maintain hand hygiene. Avoid any direct contact to body secretions anddo not touch anything that may result in indirect contact infection, otherwisewear protective clothing and disposable gloves, and sanitize your hands aftertaking off the gloves.
VI. Laundry. Uselaundry soap and clear water to wash clothes, bed sheets, bath towels, facetowels, etc. You may soak them in the hot water with a temperature of 60°C~90°C. Donot swing them and avoid direct contact to your skin.
VII. GarbageTreatment. Place a dedicated trash can with lid and plastic bag to contain theused tissues, masks, etc., empty and sanitize it every day. Before you sanitizeit, sprinkle or pour chlorine-containing disinfectants over the garbage untilit is completely wet, and then seal up the opening of the plastic bag.
VIII.Restriction on Activities. Anyone under home quarantine and observation isforbidden from going out. Strictly limit your indoor activities and try thebest to avoid sharing the same area with other family members. The sharedareas, such as kitchen and bathroom, have to be well ventilated (with windowsopen).
IX. RespiratoryHygiene. Anyone in the dwelling space has to wear a mask or cover the mouth andnose with a tissue or upper sleeve when coughing or sneezing. Sanitize bothhands immediately after coughing or sneezing.
X. HealthMonitoring. Rigorously measure and record your body temperature twice a day,and timely communicate with medical staff when you feel sick with a fever,cough, diarrhea or other physical discomfort and suspicious symptoms. Call the psychologicalassistance hotline or seek help from the community epidemic prevention andcontrol group in case of any mental discomfort such as anxiety and panic.
XI.Disinfection of Articles. Regularly disinfect the surfaces of mobile phones,doorknobs, switches, seat armrests, faucets, water bottles, desktops, floorsand other articles usually touched.
